Short answer

No Patek Philippe reference reads "5811/14G." Patek's catalog lists the Nautilus 5811/1G-001: 41 mm, 18k white gold, blue dial, caliber 26-330 S C. Sellers use "5811/14G" as a label for a counterfeit built to look like that watch. In Patek naming, the characters after the slash mark case metal and dial variant. The "/14" suffix appears on the steel 5711/1A-014, the green dial Nautilus sold in 2021. Sellers join the two strings.

What the real 5811 is

  • Case: 41 mm wide, about 8.2 mm thick, 18k white gold, sapphire caseback.
  • Dial: blue sunburst, applied white gold markers, luminescent fill.
  • Movement: caliber 26-330 S C, automatic, 3 Hz, 45 hour power reserve, stop seconds.
  • Bracelet: white gold, fold-over clasp with a lock.
  • Water resistance: 120 m.
  • US list price at launch: about $70,000. Resale asks ran higher.

What the fakes use

Most copies ship with a Miyota 9015, ETA 2824, or Seagull ST2130. No known factory makes a working copy of the 26-330 S C. Case metal is 316L or 904L steel with rhodium plating, not gold. Weight gives the answer. An 18k gold Nautilus on a full bracelet sits near 200 g. A steel copy of the same size lands near 150 g. Fake prices run $200 to $1,500.

Points that fail under a loupe

  • Caseback engraving depth and font.
  • Movement finishing: Geneva stripes, bevels, jewel settings.
  • Date wheel font and the window cut.
  • Bracelet link bevels and the clasp stamp.
  • Dial sunburst under raking light.
  • Serial and movement numbers matching Patek records.

Legal status in the US

Importing or selling a counterfeit watch is a crime. 18 U.S.C. 2320 sets up to 10 years in prison and a $2 million fine for a first offense by an individual. CBP seizes counterfeit watches at the border under 19 U.S.C. 1526. A personal-use purchase avoids the trafficking charge, but the goods stay subject to seizure. Patek does not service counterfeit watches. No Patek boutique authenticates one.

Unknowns

Patek does not publish production totals for the 5811. The number of counterfeit units made each year is not public. Weight and finish vary by batch.
