Replica IW938459: Answer First
"Replica IW938459" is a seller code. It is not an IWC reference. IWC reference numbers use the IW prefix plus six digits, for example IW371401 or IW500705. The first two digits group a watch into a family. The 93 block does not appear in IWC public catalogs for a current model. A listing that carries the code IW938459 uses a stock number from a factory or a reseller. It is not a model number from the brand.
Why Codes Like IW938459 Exist
Replica factories assign batch codes. A code tracks case size, dial color, movement type, and bracelet option. The same watch can carry three or four codes across sellers. One seller lists IW938459. Another lists the same item as IW9384 or 938459. Codes change when a factory changes a supplier. A buyer who searches the code finds one product page and no second source.
What the Number Does Not Tell You
- Movement: a code does not state if the watch runs a copy of a 7750, a decorated Miyota, or quartz.
- Case material: 316L steel and 904L steel look the same in photos.
- Water resistance: factory claims of 30 m or 50 m are not tested per unit.
- Origin: the code does not name the workshop or the city.
US Legal Status
Counterfeit watches are illegal to import and to sell in the United States. 18 U.S.C. 2320 covers trafficking in counterfeit goods. Penalties include fines and prison terms for repeat offenses. Customs and Border Protection can seize a shipment and destroy it. A buyer whose parcel is seized gets no refund from the seller in most cases. Card networks and payment processors also close accounts linked to counterfeit sales.
How to Check a Real IWC Reference
IWC publishes its catalog on its own site and in dealer records. A real reference returns a model name, a case size, and a movement number. A code that returns only replica listings is a seller code. Ask a seller for the movement model number and the case diameter. A seller who cannot name either value is guessing. Prices for replica watches range from about 60 USD to 900 USD. The code alone does not predict the price or the build quality.
